Lifeline Family Center, Inc
This is a very small, local charity in Cape Coral that provides a home for teen mothers who chose not to abort their babies in the event of an unplanned pregnancy, especially when their families have turned their back on them. The program helps these girls build a better future for their families by providing them with a home, food, clothing, transportation, an education, career training, life skills training, individual counseling, the opportunity for fellowship in a weekly support group, spiritual direction, childbirth classes, physical fitness training, and various recreational activities. This organization relies on NO government funding because they are a faith-based organization. The goal is to enable these young women to redirect their lives and become self-supporting within two years after the birth of their child. www.lifelinefamilycenter.org
ARC - the Animal Refuge Center
This is a local no-kill shelter that has been around for over 20 years. They take cats and dogs, including ones with terminal illnesses such as feline leukemia, and offer them a home and comfort even in death. It is an amazing place if you are an
animal lover and they always need money to sustain the constant influx of abandoned animals.

ACT - Abuse Counseling & Treatment
This is a local charity which addresses domestic violence, sexual assault, and human trafficking (YES it's happening here in SWFL). They have a secret crisis center location where women and children can go to be safe. They offer several programs including community education, a victim advocacy unit, a 24-hour hotline, and children's programs. You may have heard of "Arts for Act" - they have a thrift store downtown where they sell items to raise money for their operations. They are really the only ones doing what they do in a comprehensive way in our area for domestic abuse and sex trafficking. www.actabuse.com
